Inner tube Schwalbe SV15 Aerothan 23/28-622 IB 40mm
UNIQUE, LIGHTWEIGHT & EXTREMELY STABLE: THE TUBE REVOLUTION MADE FROM AEROTHAN Schwalbe's revolutionary new Aerothan inner tube achieves unprecedented peaks in elasticity, weight, and puncture resistance—and does it entirely without rubber. For road bikes, mountain bikes, and trekking bikes. 100 grams lighter on a road bike, puncture resistance for extreme touring cyclists, or tire pressure around a bar on a mountain bike without increasing the risk of punctures: what sounds tempting is now a reality thanks to the new thermoplastic polyurethane called Aerothan. With the Aerothan tube, cyclists and touring riders can push the boundaries of their capabilities like never before. Aerothan tubes are much more robust and durable than butyl, latex, or other plastic inner tubes. The transparent Aerothan tube, weighing just 41 grams, is thoroughly innovative: "For over five years, we've been perfecting the material down to the smallest detail in collaboration with BASF and making groundbreaking improvements. This is the only way we could combine the apparent contradictions of minimal weight and maximum puncture protection," says Felix Schäfermeier, Schwalbe Product Manager. "The result exceeds all our expectations!" The material, a thermoplastic polyester-polyurethane, impresses with its outstanding physical properties: high resilience, unique tensile strength, excellent damping, extreme heat resistance, and maximum wear resistance. And of course, the Aerothan tubes are also recyclable. Aerothan tube: The new benchmark for low weight and puncture protection. The effects of these properties in the Aerothan tube are impressively demonstrated by comparison tests with other models. The plunger test simulates the penetration of a small object, such as granulate. This is precisely what causes many punctures in practice. Here, Aerothan lasts twice as long as other materials: 47 Newtons are required to pierce the Aerothan tube—more than twice as much as with other materials. Even in the snakebite test with a guillotine, Schwalbe's new inner tube can withstand significantly greater drop heights than butyl, latex, or other plastic tubes. Its heat resistance is also excellent: it was tested at temperatures of over 150°C at 78 km/h in a specially developed process. When it comes to weight, Aerothan scores with its low weight, from 41 grams for road bikes to 61 grams for all-around riders and 81 grams for MTBs. In the rolling resistance test, the results match those of traditionally fast latex tubes and tubeless systems. The material's exceptional dimensional stability offers further advantages. Aerothan tubes do not burst suddenly, but the air escapes slowly in the event of a defect. Even at extremely low air pressure, the shape and riding stability remain stable. This reduces the risk of punctures or burping. And: installation is much easier: the tube doesn't slip or get pinched. An incomparable riding experience. "Despite the high surface tension, the resetting properties are excellent and provide a soft yet dynamic and precise riding experience like I've never experienced before," says Felix Schäfermeier, himself a former professional cyclist, about the incomparable riding experience. The inner tube fits so smoothly and snugly on the tire, as if it were part of it. Like all Schwalbe products, the new tube wasn't just developed in the lab but also perfected through thousands of test rides. Professional cyclists, triathletes, World Championship mountain bikers, and world cyclists provided valuable feedback for the developers. Including Patrick Lange, Ironman Hawaii World Champion 2017 and 2018. His conclusion: Aerothan is my first choice. On the one hand, because compared to conventional inner tubes, 100 grams can be saved per set of tires. On the other hand, I'm impressed by the lower rolling resistance: the difference is especially noticeable when accelerating. "Features: Consistently light all the way to the valve - approximately 40% lighter than a comparable Schwalbe Extralight tube Redefined puncture protection - the material prevents sudden air loss Minimal rolling resistance - maximum riding dynamics Extremely heat-resistant - approved for rim brakes Stable handling - even at low air pressure Easy installation - without slipping or getting pinched 100% recyclable
