When a worn chain is replaced with a
new, the number of links must be determined.
Because a worn bicycle chain extends and
the usual juxtaposition of the new and
old chain leads to an inaccurate result
and thus a different number of chain links.

1. Place the chain link counter on the chain,

2. Mark any chain link
